Classic style consoles are all the rage. Nintendo is at the top with their SNES and NES classic consoles, while at the bottom is Sony with their Playstation Classic which we are unfortunately looking at today.

Unboxing was a little underwhelming, you get two original model Playstation controllers, the ones lacking thumbsticks! Which means you only have the D-Pad to control the games. Even Sony knew this was a mistake with the original PlayStation because they promptly released a new controller with thumbsticks. You get the PlayStation Classic itself and a USB power cord, but no adapter. This is a £90 purchase, and there isn’t an adapter!?
Once powered on you get one of the worst interfaces I have ever seen. I feel very little effort was put into this, and you simply spin around the 20 games until you find the right one. You aren’t able to even filter through to find a specific game. There are little to no additional settings to configure, unlike the NES and SNES classic consoles, which had lots of customization options, you can change the screensaver and the language, that’s it.

PlayStation Classic Games:
- Battle Arena Toshinden
- Cool Boarders 2
- Destruction Derby
- Final Fantasy VII
- Grand Theft Auto
- Intelligent Qube
- Jumping Flash!
- Metal Gear Solid
- Mr Driller
- Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
- Rayman
- Resident Evil Director’s Cut
- Revelations: Persona
- Ridge Racer Type 4
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Syphon Filter
- Tekken 3
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
- Twisted Metal
- Wild Arms
I was looking forward to playing games like Spyro the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot, Castlevania, but none of these classic games were included with the Classic. So I am stuck with Rainbow Six, on a controller with no thumbsticks. The emulator they are using is also using 50Hz versions of a lot of the games, which play a lot slower than the original versions.

The controls are slow for a lot of games. Clicking a button took an age to respond. So it meant that I was moving all other the place when I tried to correct my movement. But I will say Rayman was one of the only games that looked and played well.
In other words don’t get this. The emulator isn’t utilized properly and the game library is lacking classic games. The games also do not play well. In addition, please check out our other gaming reviews.
You can easily add more games, actually. Just search “playstation classic bleem sync tutorial” on YouTube.
Nice find! I haven’t seen this yet, you had a lot of luck with it?
