Experience the ultimate power fantasy as the apex predator of the seas – a terrifying SHARK! Maneater on PS4 is a single-player, open-world action RPG (ShaRkPG) where YOU are the shark. Starting as a small shark pup you are tasked with surviving the harsh world while eating your way up the ecosystem. To do this you will explore a large and varied open world encountering diverse enemies – both human and wildlife. Maneater is just plain fun to play! The first thing that grabbed me is the naration by Chris Parnell. He may not be saying anything funny, but it just adds a comedy element to it. Being a shark and hunting the sea life is a huge part of the game, and is a pleasure to do. You can spot your prey and then swim up ripping it to shreds.

Apart from the other sea life, you also have to contend with hunters. You can’t attack them until you have levelled up your shark. This is done by hunting sea life, finding caches, finding signposts and number plates. These all increase your stats evenutally upgrading the shark and also its abilities.

Maneater PS4 Review

I would have liked to see thing happening in the world. You kill humans, you get attacked by hunters. Surely other sharks will attack humans, why can’t they be hunted too. Combat could also be worked on to make it a bit better. Though its easy and fun to do, I did find myself missing the mark a couple of times. Maybe also a kill count would be fun to have, as I’d like to show off how many turtles I have killed.

Also, add in some stealth elements. I want to be able to hide in the coral and then pounce on an unspuspeting hunter. You can’t creep up on prey or humans. I also hated being attacked by hostile wildlife, you are planning an attack or exploring and then you get bitten by a crocodile. I understand why, but why is a level 10 croc attacking a level 30 shark!?

With all that said. I hope you all continue to improve and add to Maneater. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Thanks for delivering such a great piece of work!
