As the lightest foldable phone gimbal stabilizer ever, this newest released Hohem iSteady X Phone Gimbal with multifunctional and user-friendly design can help you to unlock all possible in your daily life recording. Featured with the extremely simple design, this lightweight gimbal stabilizer for smartphones only has 4 simple buttons and most of the essential functions can be controlled by your finger. In the moment mode of iSteady X, you can easily switch among countless templates like inception, dolly zoom, smart motion timelapse, fantastic rotation, and panoramic video, by only one-tap. Apart from the advanced anti-shaking and face-tracking technology, this smartphone gimbal is also equipped with a powerful time-lapse function. Say goodbye to ordinary video recording!

Firstly I recommend watching the instruction videos before you even get it out of the box! The set up has a bit of a learning curve, but using it feels intuitive once it’s in use. I wasted around half a day before resorting to watching the help video. The videos are all short and easy to understand but more importantly include some very important information to help you get the most out of this device.

You need to download the free Hohem Pro app for this gimbal to work. This Bluetooth pairing can only be done after you’ve unlocked the three motors and extended and locked the top section. Take your phone cover off (if you have one) and position it with the camera to your left. You won’t need to worry about the phone clamp pressing down on your phone buttons thanks to the clever design.

When switching on, you need to have the feet screwed in. Then place it on a flat surface so that it can recalibrate its balance. After that, you can remove the feet.

The iSteady X gimbal is intuitive to hand movements. Also, you can also use the joystick to get a more precise movement. There’s also a slider that can be assigned to zoom or focus, depending on your choice.

I’ve found the gimbal app useful, the “Moments” feature has a library of preset movements, some of them quite artistic. There’s so many I’ve not had a chance to try them all out yet! If you feel more comfortable using your phone’s native camera app, that will work too. The only disadvantage is that you’ll lose the “Moments” library until you switch back.

Overall, the Hohem iSteady X Phone Gimbal is a really solid, well-featured gimbal, and I’m very pleased with it. Finally, check out our other camera reviews. Don’t forget to connect with the Jabba Reviews team on social media – find us on Facebook and Twitter.
