The first thing I noticed was that I missed the keyboard and mouse. This may be due to me being a big Terraria fan on the PC. This is a game that works better in handheld mode, as the touchscreen has been utilized perfectly.
Though the touchscreen may not be as useful for more precise building and mining. When using fingers, a magnifying glass will appear to help be more precise. I found I ended up switching between touch and joycons. But the gameplay and core game mechanics are the same, and its still a lot fo fun.
Overall the gameplay is still the same as on other console versions. You can move around and mine. The story and feel of the game are all still there. The added benefit of the touchscreen makes it a lot easier to play then on PS4 or XBOX.
Terraria Nintendo Switch Trailer
Currently, Terraria only supports multiplayer through Nintendo online, and not local split-screen. Though we have been promised this is on the horizon. The version released on the Switch is the 22.214.171.124 version, which is behind the console version of 1.3.1. Both are far behind the PC version of 1.4.
This is a fantastic time waster game. With side-scrolling, touchscreen, building and digging, all in all, a fun game to play. Finally check out our other gaming reviews.
