From the moment the Ninja Creami arrived, it became the star of my kitchen. This delightful gadget is the embodiment of everything you could ask for in a dessert maker – it’s convenient, versatile, and a joy to use. It takes a while to master, but once you do, it’s worth it.
The design is efficient and straightforward, with three dessert tubs that allow you to prepare and store multiple flavours at once. This is a plus for households with varying preferences or when hosting a dinner party. The tubs are easy to fill, freeze, and process. It’s just a matter of adding your ingredients, freezing for 24 hours, and then churning when you’re ready to serve.
For my first test, I decided to try the classic vanilla ice cream recipe from the provided recipe guide. The result was an incredibly creamy and indulgent treat, superior to most store-bought versions. Subsequent trials, from rich gelato to light sorbet, proved equally satisfying. I have a sweet tooth, but I was equally impressed by the low-sugar and vegan options the Ninja Creami offers, truly catering to every dietary need and preference.
One of my personal favourite creations was a blueberry and basil sorbet. It was as simple as blending blueberries and basil with a touch of lemon juice and sugar, freezing it in the tub, and then letting the Ninja Creami work its magic. The result was a refreshing, tangy delight with a velvety texture, the perfect end to a summer meal.

The machine’s Creamify technology is a game-changer, quickly transforming a frozen base into a creamy treat. You don’t have to worry about your desserts freezing into solid blocks, either. If that happens, you can always process them again in the Ninja Creami to restore their creaminess. That was a revelation for me, especially when I salvaged a too-tart mixed berry sorbet by adding cream and reprocessing it into two pots of perfect berry ice cream.
Another feature that stands out is the Mix-Ins function. I found this to be a fun way to add an extra dimension to my desserts. For instance, I used this function to mix orange marmalade into a batch of vanilla ice cream, resulting in a delectably tangy-sweet delight. You could add everything from chocolate chips to fruit or nuts to make your own customized dessert masterpiece.
While the Ninja Creami’s versatility is a boon, it’s worth noting that this isn’t a typical ice cream maker. It doesn’t freeze the ice cream, it processes pre-frozen bases. It took me a little while to adjust to this, but once I understood the concept, I found it to be a highly effective method of making ice cream and other frozen treats.
Another minor drawback was that I initially hoped to make more low-sugar recipes. However, I discovered that the sugar plays a crucial role as an anti-freeze, resulting in the best texture. But I didn’t find this to be a significant issue, given the richness of the final product and the option to experiment with various sweeteners.
In terms of power supply, it operates at 220-240v, perfect for UK users. And while it’s not a conventional blender, it does a fantastic job creating thick, restaurant-quality milkshakes among other treats.
I can’t say enough about how much I adore the Ninja Creami. It has revitalised dessert time in my household, and my kids are equally smitten. Is it a bit of a luxury? Perhaps. But it’s a luxury I’m more than willing to indulge in. So, if you’re contemplating whether to get one, I’d say go for it. It’s so much more than an ice cream maker – it’s a passport to a world of homemade, gourmet-quality frozen treats.
