The Netatmo Smart Carbon Monoxide Alarm monitors your fuel-burning appliances (boiler, fireplace, wood-burning stove, gas cooker, etc.) by measuring, in real-time, the levels of carbon monoxide, which is an invisible, odourless and potentially fatal gas. If it detects carbon monoxide in your home, it sets off its 85-decibel alarm and notifies you immediately on your smartphone.
This new device from Netatmo is compatible with Apple HomeKit. Google and Amazon Alexa are not mentioned in this instance. Though my Google Home can see the Netatmo account it is currently unable to add it to my list of devices.
Netatmo Smart Carbon Monoxide Alarm Review
Carbon monoxide is responsible for a lot of deaths in the home. Many of which could be avoided with either properly functioning or maintained equipment. The Smart Carbon Monoxide Alarm comes with a wall-mounted design. The installation was incredibly easy, as there is even a lovely video to answer any questions you may have. There is just one button on the front, and icons corresponding to colour LEDs on the top of the device that is covered by a grill. This grill allows for the intake and sample of the surrounding air.
Allow it to detect any traces of carbon monoxide. The built-in siren can reach as loud as 85dB. Though you will also get a notification on your phone as well. The built-in battery will last on average up to 10 years before you would need to replace the whole unit. This is pretty standard for Carbon Monoxide sensors and is recommended.
A smart device like this may seem odd. But, if I’m away and the cat is at home I like to know if there is a leak. The fact I get a ping on my phone is great and allows automation to be set up if needed. All it needs is to be added to my Google Home and I’ll be a happy chap.
Overall, the Netatmo Smart Carbon Monoxide Alarm is a must-have for any homeowner. The alarm sound and ability to ping your mobile is a huge benefit over more basic detectors.
