Master & Dynamic MH40 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones are an evolution of their very first headphones–the MH40–in celebration of their fifth anniversary. Staying true to the original vintage aviator-inspired design and signature rich, warm sound, our new cordless headphones with dual mics feature Bluetooth 5.0 with a 100ft/30m connectivity range and 18 hours of playtime. Lightweight yet durable, the MH40 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones are crafted from coated canvas with lambskin leather details.

The box these come in is huge. The headphones come with a matching leather cable box, a USB-C to 3.5mm, USB-C to USB-A for charging and a canvas headphone pouch. The inclusion of USB-C means that we get a faster charge, 100% in 80 minutes, 50% in 30 minutes.

The stainless steel and leather mean that these will last longer then I will. They have a good weight to them, which isn’t a bad thing. They feel great to carry around and aren’t bad on my head. But my favourite feature is the lambskin memory foam earpads. These feel so good on my ears, and they are magnetic so they can just be taken off to see the drivers for the headphones.

Due to being an updated model, these support Bluetooth 5.0, and not the older less powerful 4.1. Though the inclusion of Aptx means that when paired these sound amazing. There are 3way controls on one ear cup allowing for play/pause and skipping. You can also pick up a call, and using the Omni-directional mic means that calls sound good from both sides.

The sound from these is warm and rich. Though these don’t have noise-cancelling, the seal the cups provide do a good job at blocking out external sounds and keeping in any sound bleeding. The sound is similar to listening to a vinyl player. Instruments and voices were clear to pick out, and listening to something like Beastie Boys allowed me to hear each sample used, and then Ian Dury sounded like I was at the filming of the Old Grey Whistle Test.

Battery life is great, I was able to use these for around 2 weeks and not have to charge them once. Master & Dynamic claim it has around 9 hours of playtime.

Overall, the Master & Dynamic MH40 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones are a premium headphone brand, but this is for good reason. If you imagine a life listening to The Beach Boys on a red leather chair by an open fire, these are the headphones for you. Finally, please remember to check out our other Audio reviews.
