I’m passionate about taking pictures. Preferably when I’m on vacation and end up pressing the shutter button extensively. This can generate several gigabytes of data that needs to be stored securely. So I was looking for a storage device for on the go to back ups. I found this in the Lexar SL660 with 1TB gigabytes of capacity.
The Lexar SL660 was delivered by Amazon in a small box. In addition to the shapely and colorful disc, the box included two connection cables (to USB-C and USB-A), a small bag and a stand. There is software on the disk that encrypts the data.

The disc is fast! Although the benchmark shows significantly lower values on USB-A than on USB-C, these values are also impressive and exceed all my previous USB sticks by far. The disc then unfolds its full power on USB-C. I can’t quite get to the theoretical values given by the manufacturer, but this may also be due to my notebook. The screenshots show the lower values of USB-A and the higher values of USB-C.
Using the encryption software, you can create an archive on the disk in which all files are AES256 encrypted. This is currently the usual standard. The encrypted files are stored in a hidden directory. If you delete it or format the disk, everything is gone.
Overall, the Lexar SL660 BLAZE 1TB Gaming Portable SSD is a fast storage device for on the go that can also be entrusted with sensitive data. Perfect for me when I’m traveling.
