I don’t own a lot of racing games on the Switch. The Nintendo Switch has a major shortage of good racing games. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is my go to and that’s about it. BlazeRush for the Switch enters the ring. Offering a retro racing feel.

BlazeRush is a dynamic arcade racing survival game with no health, no levelling and no brakes! You can assemble a team of friends to play in local or online multiplayer, choose a car to your taste and chase, blow up and cut off! Adapt your style and tactics to new enemies, obstacles and tracks. Welcome to the World Of Racing and Frantic Fun!

BlazeRush Nintendo Switch Trailer
BlazeRush is a top-down racer with elements of physics-based gameplay. The first thing that took me by surprise is that is no acceleration. The analogue stick moves you. The same stick controls your direction. This immediately made me not like the game. I actually stopped play for a week, then decided to try again. With a little proactive I was able to get pretty good at this game.
A is for weapons and X is for boost. There are no breaks, you just keep going. There is a campaign that gives training for different weapons and boosts. Quick play is where the most fun can be had, as this allows you to race different levels of racers. You can also play football mode. The physics engine means that you can fall off the track if you aren’t careful. Weapons bounce off the walls and this all adds an extra level of fun.
Different cars can be used. But, unlike Mario Kart, the choice does affect how you drive. Some are slower, whilst others are so fast it’s difficult to control. There is online multiplayer, but I never really managed to play it much. This game was built for local multiplayer.

BlazeRush is only £10.79 on the eShop which is a really good deal. BlazeRush is super fun and highly addictive. Please invest the time into learning the controls and you’ll love it. Finally, check out our other gaming reviews.
