The Anker NEBULA Solar Portable 1080p Projector is my first projector but it has exceeded my expectations, its really well built and a little heavy, image quality is excellent IF fed a quality source. I’m very picky when it comes to images, so I was really disappointed when I started to use the projector at first. The image was OK, acceptable but not what I would call clear nor sharp.

I then opened up your tube and forced it to playback a 4k stream…wow.. the colours popped and the image was much much better. It looked amazing. This was all projected onto my wall and ceiling. When I projected the image onto my matt white ceiling it was so bright at night I had to switch to low power mode.

I then realised the fatal flaw of this device, the inbuilt android TV and Netflix apps only streamed at 1080p max. To use this device to its full potential I purchased an Amazon fire stick 4k and wow, everything and I means everything was 100% better. All services were sharp and much clearer and the images were so so much better.
The picture has vivid colours, and a sharp and clear picture (if used with a quality video stream, either via USB stick, 4k Mp4/Mkv are supported or a 4k streaming stick). The whole device is a very solid build. It has great battery life, in a dark room shining onto a white wall you can easily use low power mode and get 3 hrs. Also, it’s got a nice loud and clear sound but lacks bass. The fan is audible but quiet- you will hear it if watching horror films (silent scenes), most other content is not noticeable. The USB playback is excellent, – tried various 4k and 1080p AVI/MKV demo files and they play back flawlessly, even h265 encoded ones.

The software lacks controls! There are only two power states – low power and full power (standard). Not being able to tweak projector power to adjust how bright it is.
There is only one custom picture mode, requires additional pre-sets to deal with Disney + issue (Disney HDR movies are very washed out, this is a known D+ issue. Up contrast to 75-85, and saturation to 70-80 fixes it for me but causes issues when I watch other services)
HDR on brings contrasty images, non-HDR mode the images are very washed out with any content.. its weird. It’s heavier than I thought it would be, it’s still portable. Feels like a small mac mini.
BAD quality connection when connected to my laptop, Ipad pro or Samsung phone – not sure why this is, tried different cables and same result, pixelated, laggy and judders intermittently. When using the firestick 4k though it works flawlessly..need to investigate this more.
Using game mode the lag is gone, works really well BUT – the image is soft, all keystone and image adjustments settings are gone. The image becomes washed out. This could be corrected to an extent using the Nvidia control panel to boost colours on my PC, but not sure how a console would fare.
Overall, the Anker NEBULA Solar Portable 1080p Projector is a great portable projector. But in-house this isn’t as powerful as other more expensive devices.
