The AimController Personalised PS5 Controller is perfect for long hours of play, without straining your hands. Thanks to the bonus programmable paddles and smart triggers you can guarantee you’ll long use and shock resistance. All their custom controllers are genuine brand new Sony Playstation 5 DualSense. After the customisation process, each controller is rigorously tested so quality is guaranteed.
I chose to try and recreate the Cosmic Red PS5 controller. So I chose to use matte red on the front, buttons, and touchpad. The rest of the controller I left was standard black. There are a couple of add-ons you can get:
- Smart Triggers / Smart Bumpers – Smart triggers and bumpers will allow you to act faster – their response time is much quicker thanks to the digital mechanism.
- Paddles – The paddles installed at the back of the controller improve the comfort and efficiency of playing.
The big downside for me is that the smart triggers mean you lose the haptic feedback on them. This may not be a bad thing for competitive shooters, but people wanting to experience all the PS5 has to offer this is a big letdown. The paddles are removable though, so you can remove them if they become annoying.
Also, now you cannot only change the analogue stick colours but even the height (small, medium and high). I decided to stick with the standard stick height, as this was my preference. You can also add a grip to the underside which makes it more comfortable in the hand. One big change is that you can also remove the motors in the controller. This creates a lighter controller and also saves on battery.
Though I am not a big fan of the add-ons, the AimController is fantastic at the aesthetic side. All the changes I made look fantastic and the matte effect feels comfortable in my hands. The buttons all feel the same and have the same response as my original controller. The sticks all have the same feel and sensitivity. There are a couple of options to add custom text to the controller which is a nice addition for any players on teams.
The DuelSense is slightly larger than the DualShock for the PS4 – this is something I like, as it finally feels like a worthy challenger to my beloved Xbox controller (which was the thing I missed the most when I swapped sides from team Microsoft to team Sony back in the XOne/PS4 days). It also feels more weighty than the DualShock and I love the design with the teeny tiny PS symbols that adorn its beautiful facade!
For me, this is the best looking controller on the market. Whether it is the best performing remains to be seen, and is largely a subjective view anyway. I can’t wait to try out the adaptive triggers and the haptic feedback, but for now, I’ll just have to be content to hold it in my hands and dream of what goodness might await! I was happy to see they sent the controller with a case and a long USB-C cable for charging it.
Overall, if you are after the next level of PS5 controller, then you need to check out the AimController Personalised PS5 Controller.
