X-Morph: Defense Nintendo Switch Review

X-Morph: Defense for Nintendo Switch, is exactly what I have been missing on the Switch. It packs the graphics of a shoot em up, but the added bonus of a tower defence game. Unique fusion of a top-down shooter and tower defense strategy. You are the X-Morph – an alien species that invades Earth to harvest its resources. Strategize in the build mode by carefully selecting various types of alien towers or throw yourself right into the battle. Build mazes for incoming enemies in an environment that provides exceptional planning freedom. Tear down buildings and collapse bridges to support your defense or to simply indulge in a spectacle of unprecedented destruction.

For once you are playing as the invaders on earth, and you have to protect your harvester in a series of places around the world. A nice addition is that you control a ship that can shoot at enemies. So not only are you having to think about where to place your towers. There is the ability to fly around and help them out by taking down enemies.

You have access to standard towers, that can shoot at enemies. Also, you can also block off roads. You can’t block completely, but with some planning, you can make them take a long way around. This means more chance of taking them out.

There is an internal upgrade system, allowing me to upgrade my towers. This makes you want to keep playing, as you can get better weapons. The earth forces start as trucks, but then they will throw spider robots at you. The Switch didn’t even flutter about it, with almost 100 explosions going on the FPS looked great.

X-Morph: Defense Nintendo Switch Review

X-Morph: Defense is great for any fan of a spaceship shooter, and tower defence games. The mix of the two isn’t something I have played before, but it works really well. Finally check out our other gaming reviews.
