Valfaris on Nintendo Switch, after mysteriously vanishing from galactic charts, the fortress of Valfaris has suddenly reappeared in the orbit of a dying sun. Once a self-contained paradise, the grandiose citadel now plays host to an ever-growing darkness. Therion, a fearless and proud son of Valfaris, returns to his home to uncover the truth of its doomed fate and to challenge the arcane evil at its very heart.
Valfaris Nintendo Switch
You play as Therion, where you have run, jump and climb across the level. You get a gun, sword and an energy weapon which you build up the power for. Also, you get a shield which when used correctly can be used to parry attacks, and deflect ranged attacks. You learn all the controls in the first part of the game, including the different weapons. This all feels easy to pick up. The gameplay is one of the major reasons why I like this game.
The look of the game is a very stylised 2D world. I will admit that indie games lose me at the graphics, but Valfaris grabbed me by the balls. The worlds and enemies are varied and done in great detail. The music features heavy metal songs, and sound great when cutting down the bad guys.
Extra weapons can be picked up as you play, and upgrades are earned with Blood Metals. The levels are hugely varied and can involve flying monsters on one, then killer robots on another. I will promise you won’t get bored playing this game. This game can be pretty hard in places and reminds me of early platformers, which wanted you to die as much as you could to keep the game playing for as long as possible. There is no exploration really in this game, it is purely a platformer.
If you like blood, guts, and heavy metal, then this is the game for you. Finally, please check out our gaming reviews. Also, don’t forget to connect with the Jabba Reviews team on Facebook or Twitter.
