The Twelve South StayGo Mini Ultra-thin USB-C Hub includes a .5 meter USB-C cable to use at your workstation or on the go. Or you can attach StayGo Mini directly to your device. The matte black aluminium shell dissipates heat for better temperature control vs a plastic shell hub.
I have several USB-C hubs and they all have issues, be it fixed cables that are too short, a lack of ports or some other functionality that I want.
The 4K HDMI port is a great addition as a lot of thinner hubs and devices sacrifice the HDMI port for size. The ability for this to provide power pass-through is great, it can draw 100W from the charger, but needs 15W itself when doing pass-through, so your device will only get 85W. This isn’t a show stopper as most laptops don’t use the full capacity of their chargers.
The hub itself feels solid and is nicely machined, the detachable cable means that you don’t need to worry when it’s in a bag, and the wealth of connections is a big bonus all snapped into place and felt solid. The icons etched on the hub are all visible, so you know what port does what.
I tested this on my mobile and laptop. Both seemed to take a charge just fine and the ports all worked as advertised. It doesn’t seem to run hot, even after a full work day. One small change would be the addition of a card reader, this is more a personal gripe.
Overall, the Twelve South StayGo Mini Ultra-thin USB-C Hub is a must-have hub perfect to have yin your bag when needed.
