With laptops having less IO, and phones becoming smarter and more powerful, the USB -C hub is getting to be a popular accessory. The Anker Premium 7-in-1 USB-C Hub comes with 100W Power Delivery, USB C Data Port, 4K USB C to HDMI, microSD/SD Card Reader, 2 USB 3.0 Ports.

In my eyes, the best USB-C hub should come with power delivery enabling me to charge my device while I use it. It should also be small enough to pack in my pocket or bag, and lastly be cheap. This means any thunderbolt £300 hubs out there are completely out.
The 7-in-1 USB-C Hub literally has every port that you would need, including two USB-C, one of which is for charging. I plugged everything into this hub and ran it for around 5 hours. By the end of the test, the hub was warm but was never hot. This is a massive bonus for me, as I have found other hubs get too hot to even pick up.

Anker Premium 7-in-1 USB-C Hub Features:
- 2 USB 3.0 Ports
- USB-C Charging Port
- 4K 30Hz HDMI Port
- Card Reader
- LED Indicator
- 0.6 ft USB Connection Cable
- Aluminum / Polycarbonate
- USB C Plug
I tested the SD and MicroSD card slots and both offered comparable speeds for transferring files. The 4K HDMI port worked a treat and I was able to plug in my phone into my curved 4k display. I didn’t notice any artefacts or loss of framerate. The USB 3.0 ports allowed for great transfer speeds when moving a 4K movie file. The USB-C power delivery port enables me to charge my laptop and also any USB power devices such as a mouse and keyboard.

The size is perfect for me fitting in my pocket or laptop case, and the fact there is no need for external power supply means there’s nothing else to carry with it. The whole device has a premium feel to it, as it has a little bit of weight. The metal used seems to avoid scratches and has a little bit of grip to avoid it slipping.
For anyone with a Mac, or similar laptop with no IO, this is a must-have purchase. It’s small and slim while offering you every port you would ever need. Don’t forget to check out our other Charging reviews.
