The Lego Movie 2 Videogame Nintendo Switch Review

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame on the Nintendo Switch uses the sandbox environment, allowing you to pick and choose the missions you complete. The crafting element is gone, and you can now scan and store builds. These can then be pulled out when needed, to get to a next stage or a section of the game. You travel between the Systar and Rex-Plorer Systems. These offer their own main and side missions.

With every enemy you get, or structure you break you are awarded different colour blocks. You then need to collect these in order to be able to build. This was a nice addition, as it appeals to the younger audience the games are built for. After travelling to a new world, you can then use the scanner to build cities. This encourages players to explore the world more. You can collect relics by completeling missions, which again encourages players to play the game and collect relics.

This is a port of the original game and does experience a few performance issues. I found it played bets when in handheld mode, as when in docked mode I did notice the capped framerate and a number of artefacts. I also found waiting for the loading screen a lot of the time.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame doesn’t break the mould of game making. But is a fun interstellar romp. Finally check out our other gaming reviews.
