The SwitchBot Curtain Smart Electric Motor is a small wireless robot that makes any curtains motorized and smart with a 30-second installation. After attaching to your curtain, you can then open and close your curtain with your smartphone. Or, just set a schedule to automatically open or close the curtain.

The big thing that blew me away, was just how easy it was to set up the SwitchBot Curtain. For our rod curtain rail, you slide it on and away you go. No matter if it’s Rod, U Rail track, or I Rail track, the SwitchBot Curtain can always fit. A good tip is to make sure you select the right type and measure the dimensions of your curtain rails, so they can work smoothly on your curtains.

After attaching you can then teach the Switchbot how long the rail is. You do this calibration so when you tell it to open the curtains, it knows where it is and how long to travel.
The app has a couple of nice settings, such as schedule, so they open and close at the same time of the day. This a nice touch for waking up to open curtains. There is a sunlight sensor, so they will know when to close and open. But in the dark UK weather, they didn’t seem to work as well.
The rechargeable battery lasts around a year, based on usage. But I highly recommend grabbing the solar panel addons. These plug in directly to the SwitchBot curtain and mean you never have to charge again.
An addition I didn’t think was needed, was the touch sensor. If you try to draw the curtains by hand. Then the SwitchBot Curtain senses the pull, it will kick in and do the rest of the work for you.
With a palm-sized body, it can be nicely hidden behind your curtains and works like no one knows. Not only this, SwitchBot Curtain can even push up to 8 kg (17 pounds) of the curtain!
Overall, the SwitchBot Curtain Smart Electric Motor is an amazing little gadget. The way it can work with any curtain rail, charge via solar panels and be concealed is just what we need.
