With Smart Dynamic Navigation, the Anker eufy RoboVac G20 Robot Vacuum Cleaner methodically cleans your floors for better coverage than random-path vacuums.

Straight off the bat, this is a definite step up. Rolly came to us in 2014, so you’d expect the technology to have moved on and improved. To an extent it has and the Eufy deserves 5 stars for fulfilling expectations, albeit there are still some industry issues that it would be nice for someone to solve.

As you can see from the pictures, Eufy is well packaged and comes with handy spares. He makes a nice space-age noise when you turn him on. Quite uplifting. What is different from our old Rolly is that there is an on/off switch on the bottom that needs to be switched on, as well as the control switch on the top of the vacuum. The sweeper brush is clicked on, rather than attached with a screw (a blessing for those who can never find their little screwdriver, but maybe a bit of a curse if there is a tussle with the charging dock – our Eufy has divested himself of his brush on one occasion). Then the BIG difference is WIFI and Alexa capability.

Attaching to Wifi was easy (using the quick set up guide) and the app has worked flawlessly. We can set a male or female voice, as well as choose different languages. The app tells you what Eufy is up to, allows you to alter suction (from quiet to standard, turbo and max – he isn’t a noisy machine on quiet and standard, but he is a vacuum so ‘quiet’ is a relative term) and BoostIQ can be controlled within the app too, so Eufy adjusts for your floor type. You can spot clean, set schedules, find Eufy and send him to recharge,

Attaching Eufy to Alexa was easy once you know to get the EufyHome – Robovac skill and not the skill simply called EufyHome. He’s easy to use with Alexa and controlling him from elsewhere just by asking Alexa to get Eufy going is a great feature. However, asking him to go home doesn’t always work as Alexa can tell you he is at home charging when he isn’t! Tsk!

The other difference, which is a big improvement, is Eufy’s slimline profile. He can get into places that Rolly simply cannot reach. Also, as he is systematic, you feel that he has visited everywhere and not wasted time or energy.

An annoyance with Rolly that continues with Eufy is that they can be good at pushing their dock around. Rolly’s dock is on a hard floor, so I used tape to stick his dock down. Eufy has his dock on the carpet, so I’m still thinking that one through. I wish the designers of these machines would! However, Rolly still has quite a poor docking rate, he can’t always seem to find it, whereas Eufy finds it a lot easier to dock.

He has a small dust box, just like Rolly, but the filter is easier to remove and taking the box out is just as simple. He picks up well, as you can see from the photo. We have a pet and it’s fine so far, but maybe a bit early to say if it’s optimized for pet owners. However, if there is an issue then I will come back and update this review.

You can buy boundary strips if you want to limit where he goes. I tried my Rolly iRobot boundary things with him and it seems to work but it may just have been a coincidence. He’s only been stuck twice and misjudged a step once.

Overall, the Anker eufy RoboVac G20 Robot Vacuum Cleaner is a great leap forward and has excellent improvements combined with convincing cleaning power.
