Street Fighter 6 PC Review

Street Fighter 6 PC

As an avid gamer who has been following the Street Fighter franchise for years, my anticipation for Street Fighter 6 was immense. In this review, I’ll share my thoughts and experiences from playing the PC version of this game.

From the moment I launched Street Fighter 6, I was impressed by the game’s overall presentation. The game feels robust and is packed with diverse modes and features, all encased in a stylish and colourful swagger that the game absolutely backs up.

My journey began in the World Tour mode, a sprawling single-player mode that introduced an exciting twist to the traditional fighting game formula. Instead of playing as a classic fighter, I was given the freedom to create my own character. The character creation process was incredibly detailed, allowing me to create a unique avatar that reflected my personal style. I enjoyed playing through the World Tour mode, which blended core fighting gameplay with an open RPG world, levelling system, and story.

As I progressed through the game, I was able to learn new fighting styles from the series’ classic cast, customizing my movesets to suit my playstyle. The ability to switch between different “Masters” and mix in special and super moves I’d learned from other characters added an additional layer of strategic depth to the gameplay.

One of the game’s standout features for me was the introduction of Drive Impact and Drive Parries, universal moves that allowed any character to break through enemy attacks or nullify incoming assaults. These moves added a new dynamic to the combat, providing another tool to help turn the tide in a battle or capitalise on opportunities for major damage.

Street Fighter 6 did a great job of accommodating players of all skill levels. The game offered both traditional six-button controls and simplified “modern” controls. The latter allowed me to execute special moves faster and more consistently at the press of a button, making the game more accessible without compromising the core fighting mechanics.

What really set Street Fighter 6 apart for me was its online component. The game’s redesigned rollback netcode resulted in incredibly stable matches, even against players from other parts of the world. This ensured that the game remained responsive and reactive, which is crucial for a fighting game where split-second decisions can mean the difference between victory and defeat.

Despite the game’s impressive features and gameplay, it was not without its flaws. Some minor technical issues occasionally marred the experience. Furthermore, there were concerns about the game’s yet-to-be-revealed monetisation schemes that could potentially impact the game’s overall reception and longevity.

In conclusion, Street Fighter 6 on PC is a comprehensive fighting game that caters to both newcomers and veterans. The game’s combination of robust features, accessible controls, and solid netcode make it one of the best fighting games in recent years. It sets the bar high for the next generation of fighting games and has me eager to continue playing and improving my skills.

Given the overall experience and minor issues, I would rate Street Fighter 6 an 8.5 out of 10. It’s a significant step forward for the franchise, offering a blend of novelty and nostalgia while innovating in ways that keep the gameplay fresh and engaging.
