Pumpkin Jack on Nintendo Switch is a spooky scary 3D platformer in which you embody Jack, the Mythical Pumpkin Lord! Dive into an Epic Adventure through otherworldly landscapes and help the Evil annihilate the Good!
Pumpkin Jack is a 3d platformer similar to the likes of medieval. But it’s better, as its a combination of Medievil and the best parts of Uncharted. Though this is in gameplay only, as there isn’t much of a story. All dialog is done via test boxes, with no voice acting. There is also a distinct lack of cutscenes, meanin gyou have to stop and read whenever there is dialog.
The Jabba team completed the game in around five hours, and we found it a fun 3d platformer. You start with a shovel, and the weapons upgrade as you defeat bosses. There are bird skulls hidden throughout the game, which unlock skins for Jack. As you gain more powerful weapons the game difficultly increases to match. This means it never gets too easy. There are little touches like mini-games, which take a break from the game.
I love the look of Pumpkin Jack, it sticks with the typical Halloween colour choices. Orange, purple and greens flood the screen and is a sight to see. I did find that I prefered this in docked mode, as handheld tended to dip on frames.
Overall, we were suprised by how fun Pumpkin Jack on Nintendo Switch was. Its a great combination of styles, but lacks the story to keep you occupied. Finally, check out our site for other reviews. Also, don’t forget to connect with the Jabba Reviews team on Facebook or Twitter.
