Named for its shape, the OXO Good Grips Y Peeler features a sharp, stainless steel blade that glides through even the toughest fruit and vegetable skins with ease. The soft, comfortable handle cushions your hand as you peel, and is non-slip, even when your hands are wet.
This peeler has become my go-to tool for adding julienned vegetables to salads, pad Thai noodle dishes, and spring rolls. It glides smoothly across cucumbers, zucchinis, and even crunchy carrots. Clean-up is a breeze, unlike having to clean the many parts of a food processor. Not only is this peeler lightweight, but the rubbery surface provides a comfortable, firm grip.

It can be a little tricky using every last bit of carrot after most of it has been whittled down to just a nub. To save my fingers, I use a fork to pierce the thick end of the carrot to hold it firmly in place while I peel the rest. This should be done on a chopping board and not on a wobbly plate. May the fork be with you for safe peeling!
I wish that the plastic safety cover would stay in place better. It flips on/off far too easy to be functional. Occasionally, the blades get clogged with bits of carrot but are easy to clear out.
Overall, the OXO Good Grips Y Peeler is a great addition to any kitchen drawer.
