Take a moment with Meze Audio 99 Neo Headphones. Feast your eyes on coal black textured earcups. Caress the butter soft earpads. Enjoy crisp, clean sound – natural, balanced, undistorted. This is the contemporary hi-fi headphone to fall in love with.
The memory foam and soft PU leather mean that these will last longer then I will. They weight them, which isn’t a bad thing. They feel great to carry around and aren’t bad on my head. But my favourite feature is the memory foam ear-pads earpads. These feel so good on my ears, and they are magnetic so they can just be taken off to see the drivers for the headphones.

The sound from these is warm and rich. Though these don’t have noise cancelling, the seal the cups provide do a good job at blocking out external sounds and keeping in any sound bleeding. The sound is similar to listening to a vinyl player. Instruments and voices were clear to pick out, and listening to something like Beastie Boys allowed me to hear each sample used, and then Ian Dury sounded like I was at the filming of the Old Grey Whistle Test.
The seal on the ears was perfect for me, and they let in very little outside noise. The kevlar cable meant that it was difficult to get tangled, and also featured the controls and mic.
Meze Audio are a premium headphone brand, but this is for good reason. If you imagine a life listening to The Beach Boys on a red leather chair by an open fire, these are the headphones for you. Finally, please remember to check out our other Audio reviews.
