The Kami Wire-Free Outdoor Battery Camera is a 1080p camera with night vision. It can be screwed into a surface and angled using the elbow mount. It doesn’t need wires as it using rechargeable batteries and can stream to an SD card or the Kami app.
This is not a lightweight camera, which is caused by the four huge batteries it runs off. This is quite a clever way to handle this, as you can charge one set and have another set in the camera, leading to very little downtime. This added weight is held by that strong elbow mount. Also, the whole thing is waterproof giving the camera an IP65 rating.
Video quality is pretty good, giving me some of the best night vision I have seen in a while. There is a 140-degree sensor, which corrects lens distortion. It seems to deal with different light levels well. Though I will add that details aren’t easy to pick out and things like number plates and faces at a distance are difficult to make out. This may also be down to the compression used on storing the videos.
I am not sure if this is a firmware issue, but the camera movement sensor wasn’t too good. It seemed to pick up little to no movement, and then ignore huge times of movement. This meant we could have videos of a bug flying by, but miss someone stealing my UPS delivery. Though this seemed to be one out of a hundred videos, so very low chances.
I also found a few times notifications took over five minutes to get to my device. I am not sure if this is mobile or camera related, but it was quite a rare issue.
Overall, the Kami Wire-Free Outdoor Battery Camera is a great waterproof camera to have around the home. Finally, check out our other camera reviews. Don’t forget to connect with the Jabba Reviews team on social media – find us on Facebook and Twitter.
