In the realm of thermal imaging, the InfiRay P2 Pro Thermal Camera has emerged as a compact yet powerful tool. At first glance, the camera’s petite size and robust fully-metal body may strike you as incongruous with its strong performance; however, don’t let its compact size fool you. My personal experience with the P2 Pro has been nothing short of fascinating, and it has effortlessly transformed my perception of thermal imaging devices.
The P2 Pro boasts an impressive 256×192 IR resolution with a commendable frame rate of 25Hz, ensuring precise and speedy capture of thermal data. Its wide temperature range, spanning from -4°F to 1112°F, underscores its versatility. With the P2 Pro, you’re not just snapping thermal images but conducting a deep dive into the realm of temperature analytics. In contrast to the TOPDON TC001, which offered competent but not exceptional resolution, the P2 Pro stands out with a significantly higher resolution that allows for more detailed thermal imaging.
Compatibility with Android 9.0 and above is another plus point. This feature makes the device more accessible and easy to handle, enhancing the user experience. Unlike the TOPDON TC001, which relied on batteries, the P2 Pro’s battery-free design is a genuine game-changer. It simplifies usage and adds to the convenience, freeing you from the worry of running out of battery at critical times.

One of the highlights of my experience with the P2 Pro has been its wide range of applications. From troubleshooting electronic components to home inspections and HVAC issues, the P2 Pro is indeed a versatile tool. The TOPDON TC001 also had a broad range of applications, but I found the P2 Pro to be more precise and detailed in its thermal readings, making it a superior option.
However, there are some drawbacks that I encountered during my use. The most notable was an apparent lens defect, resulting in a form of pixelation/distortion across a section of the image. This issue was more pronounced than what I’d seen in other thermal cameras, including the TOPDON TC001. In addition, I noticed that the camera tends to apply a high level of contrast and sharpening effect, which can be detrimental in some cases.
Despite these minor hiccups, the P2 Pro’s compact size, robust design, high resolution, and versatile application make it a noteworthy contender in the thermal imaging field. Its pocket-size and light weight make it a handy tool, while its robust metal body ensures durability. I was thrilled by the additional macro lens and lens cover that offer protection during transportation, which weren’t available with the TOPDON TC001.
The P2 Pro is not perfect, and there are areas where it could use some improvement. But considering its overall capabilities and versatility, it’s a worthy addition to any toolbox. I’m inclined to give the InfiRay P2 Pro Thermal Camera a score of 7.5 out of 10. It might not outshine all competitors in every aspect, but it certainly holds its own and promises a fun and functional thermal imaging experience.
