Golem Gates on Nintendo Switch is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi blend of action-strategy and card battler, pitting your conjured armies against otherworldly forces. Choose from 100 cards (known as Glyphs) and unleash diverse units, buildings, buffs, and more in tactical combat across the single-player, online co-op, and online competitive multiplayer. An ancient threat surges from the Golem Gates, and only the Harbinger stands guard. Wielding the nanite-infused power of The Ash, you must protect a world ravaged by ancient wars.

Golem Gates is a lot more aggressive than other RTS games. There is no base-building to do in this game. You have your main character and a deck of cards to pick your units and powerups from. This is a great gameplay choice for Switches, especially in handheld mode.

As a fan of pick up and go style games, Trials on Golem Gates is great as they can last between 1 and 30 mins to play and complete. AI is pretty good and offers a great challenge while the online mode builds up a following. I am also a fan of the Horde mode as this is a survive as long as you can game style.

Performance is acceptable on the Switch. In handheld mode, if the screen gets too busy you can notice frames dropping. While docked it handled the game perfectly. There is an issue with slow camera movement which can be irritating.

If you are a fan RTS games, then this is a great one to pick up. It’s aggressive, and features a lot of action. Finally, please check out our gaming reviews. Also, don’t forget to connect with the Jabba Reviews team on Facebook or Twitter.
