The Ember Mug2 Copper Temperature Controlled Mug does more than simply keep your coffee hot. Their smart mug allows you to set an exact drinking temperature, so your coffee is never too hot, or too cold. Ember then maintains your chosen temperature for 1.5 hours with the Ember Mug² 10 oz and 80 minutes with the Ember Mug² 14 oz – so your hot beverage stays perfect.

As the 2 states, this is the sequel to the popular self-heating mug from Ember. Coming in 10 and 14 oz, with a choice of black or white. It packs a battery and heating element in the bottom, allowing it to heat your beverage to your prefered temperature. This all done through the app.
When you set up your mug, you can assign it an LED colour. This is probably to do with if you have a couple and don’t want to pick up Dans Christmas flavoured tea. Once done, fill your mug, let it brew using the brew timer and then set the temperature. You can see the temperature of the beverage and you can then drag the slider to your desired temp. You then get a notification to let you know its at the desired temp. There are 5 preset temperatures, 6 including off. These can be edited, removed and new ones added if needed. There are 3 brewing times, these can be edited if needed.
Ember Mug2
My process seems to be brew, drink and then wash and charge. I then pick it up for my next tea when ready. I am drinking less tea now, as cups last a lot longer due to them not cooling down.
The Ember Mug2 offers 50% better battery than the previous model. This seemed to be correct, I was able to get around an hour of heating before it gave me a notification. I was a bit confused by the charging base. I would have thought wireless charging would be in use, but it isn’t. They are using live contact on the base, which connects to the bottom of the mug. This means no water can get in the way. It feels like you should be able to have a hot drink on the base to keep it going, but I wouldn’t risk it.
The Ember Mug2 Copper Temperature Controlled Mug feels like a tea drinkers mug, as coffee drinkers will have a filter coffee of 3 cups, this won’t last 3 cups worth of coffee. Whereas a hot tea for an hour sounds rather nice. Finally, check out our Digital Home section for other reviews. Also, don’t forget to connect with the Jabba Reviews team on Facebook or Twitter.
