To bring you the ultimate audio experience, Edifier designed the NeoBuds Pro with intelligent active noise cancellation (ANC) algorithms that remove surrounding noise up to 42dB, while standard earbuds only go up to 30dB. The balanced armature, featuring high sensitivity and outstanding resolution, delivers bright high-frequency sound, while the dynamic driver provides vigorous, solid and natural bass.
Edifier leverages the innovative digital Active Crossover technology to process sound through a bi-amping with DSP based active crossover—a custom-designed dynamic driver captures exceptionally deep bass, while the Knowles balanced armature achieves pure highs, to blow you away with an acoustic experience that borders on perfection.

Had originally bought a set of Sony XM3 buds as they had just dropped to under £130, shortly after I started seeing reviews online for the NeoBuds from the likes of “El Jefe” and Aaron Law praising the sound quality.
Surely they couldn’t be better than the former class leaders.. after chatting with some reviewers including those above they assured me they sound amazing, the noise-cancelling was on a par with the Sony XM3 buds and the build quality was amazing for the price. I returned the XM3 buds and ordered these… while I understand these were released to celebrate Edifier’s 25th anniversary the packaging was a bit OTT for such a small item, they well and truly outdid themselves. I opened the brown cardboard box to be greeted with a large silver (25th anniversary, clever) box and even a stiff black card tote bag with the Edifier branding on it.
Inside the box it had what appears to be sound insulation foam and a plastic case holding six sizes of earbud tips, making seven in total with the ones already fitted to the buds. The buds and their case were in the top layer as well, below that was all the documentation, a USB-a to USB-c charging cable and a very nice drawstring pouch to store the case in while travelling. All in, a pretty good bundle for even buds that cost twice as much! After getting a set of tips to fit me sorted out I paired them to my iPhone and had a play… Wow! They sounded amazing! I was able to hear little details in the audio that I hadn’t been able to make out while using the Sony buds. Bass response was pretty damn good as well, you could feel the punch as a bass line kicked in, the Sony buds were lethargic in comparison.

Next up I paired it to my Samsung Tab A7 tablet, unfortunately, the app shows as not being compatible with my tablet on the google play store, this was easily remedied by downloading the app’s apk file from apkpure. From there I was able to install the “magic” update app and installed the newest firmware that also added support for LDAC, Sony’s hi-res audio codec for Bluetooth. I then enabled LDAC and had a listen to some lossless music from Tidal… while they sounded great using AAC on my iPhone they now sounded even better and the soundstage opened up massively giving better definition to all instruments, the vocals were super crisp and the bass was rich and deep without messing up the other frequencies.
A small warning though should you use LDAC/LHDC for listening, the streams use up to 3 times more data than AAC/SBC codecs and this has a major impact on battery life. I have seen several people complain about the battery life being a lot slower than the 5 hours quoted without them understanding the basics of data throughput and relative power consumption, so take those complaints with a pinch of salt. Other than that I can only say buy them!
Overall, the Edifier NeoBuds Pro Hi-Res ANC Noise Cancelling Wireless Earbuds sound better but from what I can tell only by a small margin. To me that slight improvement isn’t worth spending the extra £40 especially considering that most of the frequencies reproduced with hi-res codecs are beyond most humans ability to hear.
