Datacolor SpyderX Elite Monitor Calibrator. For Expert and professional photographers and motion image-makers looking for the most comprehensive monitor calibration tool for maximum control of their colour workflow.
Datacolor SpyderX Elite Monitor Calibrator Review
Datacolor is a huge name in monitor calibration, and their Spyder5 has been the must-have tool for a lot of people. But their SpyderX promises improved precision and enhanced calibration rate. Meaning you will get a better calibration a lot faster.

Compared to the Spyder5, the SpyderX is the same size and shape but choosing to go for a white decal instead of the black.

The Spyder5 employed a honeycomb baffle to analyze the monitor, but the new SpyderX uses a lens-based technology. This means more light can reach the sensors and transmit more information to the software. From testing, this seemed to take less than 2 minutes, which makes it the faster monitor calibration tool I have used.

Set up is a breeze, download and install the software, enter the serial number on the card. You need to then set the parameters on the rather dated interface. Once done, you rest the SpyderX on the monitor, with a weight on the back for balance. The software then runs through a load of tests, which are analyzed. The test took around 1 and a half minutes, which considering you should test once a month isn’t a bad speed.
If you are in any job where the monitor is key, then you need to grab one of these. Calibration in under 2 minutes, will save you so much time. Finally, check out our other Digital Home reviews. Follow us on Twitter or Facebook.
