ALOGIC USB C Dock PLUS & Ultra Dock Nano Review

ALOGIC’S arrival in the UK coincides with the launch of two state-of-the-art USB C docking systems. Designed to offer class-leading performance and connectivity combined with superb industrial design, both solutions are every bit as elegant as the computers that they were connected to. We were lucky to get both to review.

The ALOGIC USB-C Dock PLUS is the next generation USB-C peripheral designed to work with the latest USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 enabled computers. The dock PLUS features a full array of ports ranging from 1 x HDMI with support for 4K@30Hz, 1 x Mini DisplayPort with support for 4k@30Hz, 1 x Gigabit Ethernet for wired ethernet, 2 x USB 3.1 (USB-A) ports for your standard USB accessories, 1 x Micro SD and SD Card Readers and 1 x USB-C port with support for up to 100W of Power Delivery for charging your laptop when connected to a suitable USB-C Charger. The Docking station uses the latest Power Delivery (PD 3.0) specifications, that lets you charge your MacBook or other USB-C enabled laptop with up to 100W of power. The USB-C port in this next-generation dock also supports data transmission for connecting a USB-C storage device, peripheral, smartphone, etc for transferring data.

It’s made from shielding to eliminate all magnetic interference caused by Bluetooth, Wi-fi or any other frequencies. This help improves the performance of your laptop and tablet across different locations and environments.

The ALOGIC Ultra Dock Nano design is to make the most of the USB-C ports on your Macbook Pro and Macbook Air. In its 2nd generation, the dock nano features a unibody aluminum and soft-touch ABS construction.

  • HDMI (4K@30Hz ) output for connecting an external display
  • SD and Micro SD card reader for quickly transferring photos and videos
  • Dual-port USB hub for other peripherals
  • Two USB-C Ports where one of the USB-C ports is enabled with PD 3.0 specifications and will allow charging of the laptop with up to 100W power and data transfer at the same time
  • USB-C port supporting USB 3.1 Data speeds.
