The Soundcore Wakey Bluetooth Speaker is a great addition for any bedroom. I tended to use my phone as my alarm, but the Wakey combines an alarm clock, wireless speaker, FM radio, white noise machine, and wireless charger into one speaker.
Soundcore Wakey – How To Use
The Soundcore Wakey has a very modern sleek look to it. It’s white, except for the grey front grill. The time is shown with white LEDs behind the grill. There are several buttons along the front, with little icons indicating what they do. Also, there’s a QI icon with a base on the top to charge your device. The back sports the radio antenna port, two USB-A ports for charging additional devices and an Aux-in for playing music through the Wakey.
Setting up was easy, just download the Soundcore app, and it’ll run through connecting to the speaker. This also includes any firmware updates if needed. The app is nice and proffesional. It’s clear and not bogged down in features that aren’t needed. It’ll then set the time, and allow you to adjust the Wakey settings like alarms and brightness. What you can then do is disconnect from the speaker if needed and it’ll run as normal. This is good, as you don’t want the time being wrong because you disconnected for a bit.
You can use the app to search for and save any FM radio stations, also picking any white noise that you need to drift off to sleep. The sounds range from a train to rain. You can merge different sounds to create a train in the rain.
The Wakey uses two 5W drivers, this means that it can get pretty loud. The bass was a bit low overall, with mids and highs sounding great. Vocals were crisp and clear with guitars sounding smooth.
There is no smart assistance built into the Wakey. It would of been nice to link the alarm to my smart lights, but I can give it a pass.
Overall this is a great addition to any bedroom. It’s sleek design fits into any decor. The sound is great and the feature set is massive. Finally, check out our other audio reviews. Also, don’t forget to connect with the Jabba Reviews team on Facebook or Twitter.
