SKYMEE Owl Robot
The SKYMEE Owl Robot is a remarkable concept designed to bring your pet’s interactive playtime into the digital age. The idea of a mobile, remote-controlled companion for your pet that incorporates treat dispensing, video recording, and smart interaction holds promise, but the execution of the Owl Robot doesn’t quite hit the mark.
Firstly, the Owl Robot is indeed an interactive delight, offering a range of action modes triggered by infrared sensing. The manual driving feature allows you to remotely steer the Owl Robot around your home, offering an entertaining hide and seek game for your pet. And if your pet is ever restless or misbehaving, the treat-tossing feature and 2-way audio function are at your disposal to calm or cheer up your furry friend, which is a major plus.
The device incorporates a full HD camera with 4x zoom and night vision capabilities. The camera’s quality is surprisingly good, delivering clear, sharp images during both day and night. You have the capacity to save these high-quality images or videos, preserving your pet’s candid moments. While the camera functionality is praiseworthy, the Owl Robot seems to fall short in its motion detection capabilities, which, although adequate, can sometimes miss pet behaviour that you may wish to monitor.

Another feature to mention is the Owl Robot’s TF recording function, which can record video automatically when a TF card is installed (not included). This allows you to keep a watchful eye on your home even when you’re not physically present, providing peace of mind 24/7. However, the absence of an included TF card feels like a missed opportunity, and buying it separately adds to the overall cost.
The Owl Robot has two connection modes, but it depends heavily on a 2.4G wifi connection for remote control operation. If your smartphone does not have network access, the Owl Robot can still function in AP mode, although with limited capabilities.
One commendable aspect of this device is its impressive battery life. It can run for 8 hours of continuous use, which allows for extensive interactive sessions with your pet. However, the charging method or time isn’t clearly mentioned, and it could be a potential drawback.

Weighing at 1kg and with dimensions of 23 x 14 x 14 cm, the Owl Robot is quite compact and can easily manoeuvre around most homes. The device’s build quality seems sturdy and it’s environmentally friendly, though its long-term durability is uncertain.
Finally, let’s discuss the price. At £169.99, the Owl Robot is certainly not cheap. For some pet owners, the high cost might outweigh the benefits, especially considering that there are other options in the market that offer similar features at a lower price point.
In conclusion, the SKYMEE Owl Robot offers a unique, high-tech method of interacting with your pet. Its robust feature set, including a high-quality camera, treat tossing, and smart interaction, is intriguing. However, the device’s high price, mediocre motion detection capabilities, and dependency on a strong wifi connection may deter some potential buyers. As such, we give the SKYMEE Owl Robot a 7.5 out of 10. This gadget is suitable for tech-savvy pet owners looking for an interactive, stimulating device for their pets, and who don’t mind the steep price.
